Now that you know what a site should look like from a technical standpoint, why not do some "road work" and see what some real sites look like in operation? The best way to build a site is to "be a customer" yourself for a while. Figure out what you like and dislike and ask your family, friends, co-workers, & neighbors the same.

Here are some actual sites reviewed by Sell It on the Web so you can see what the pros are looking for from a technical standpoint. This site has reviews for Egghead, Shop Irish, Etoys, CD Now, Dell. There are also interviews with Store Owners from Planet Learn, Coastal Tool, Cap Shack, Gift Ship, US Wings, MindFoodMedia.com, and Shop Irish which are very useful & interesting.
Actual Sites:
Now visit some actual sites. Look for sites similiar to yours in concept, similiar to yours in size, & similiar to your in scope. Remember to look for things such as functionality, how information is presented, the look & appeal of the site, the layout of the online catalog, how tax issues are addressed (where applicable), & the methods of payment and security available to the customer.
